VIBRANT • DIVERSE • FASCINATING
Singapore is a vibrant, clean, and diverse city with Chinese, Indian, and Malay cultures. Known for its cleanliness, shopping, and orderly design, it also houses ethnic quarters and family-friendly attractions. There are lovely public spaces intertwined with futuristic-looking high rises.
The city’s “hawker culture’ (a melting pot of cuisine) – aromas of spices, sticky barbeque glazes, and steaming hot broths – was recently added to the UNESCO list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The food alone is worth a visit.
Singapore is also famous for its shopping and although it is recommended to at least browse the shops, one can also visit the mosques, have a Singapore Sling at the famous Raffles Hotel, and learn of its ancient past with roots connected to the Malay Peninsula and China, as well as a colonial era.
The charm of Singapore is found by exploring the different ethnic districts including Colonial District, Little India, Chinatown, and the Arab Quarter. There are also gardens, waterfronts, and sections of the city that are unique in their own way.
